Have you heard yours lately? I occasionally get to enjoy Oprah Winfrey and the beloveds she chooses to interview either on Master Class or my favorite, Super Soul Sunday. Recently I heard an interview of her, by her (sounds odd, but it was a Master Class on Oprah herself). She shared this word “whisper” to refer to Spirit communicating to her. This spoke to me because I love the whispers. I know I am not aligned when the whisper has faded or I am not hearing it as clearly as usual.
This is when our intuition speaks to us. When the whisper, God, … Read More

Yoga adjustments are an essential part of ones yoga class. Remember that for most of us, we go to a class to learn, to go deeper in our “practice.” The fundamental reason adjustments are important is safety. We want to practice yoga in a way that is safe and comfortable for our body. Injuries occur when our asanas are incorrectly aligned and it can be challenging to go deeper in the asana and the soul work if misaligned because, the prana is unavailable to all of the body and systems of the body. It is the yoga teacher’s job, as a … Read More
Yoga is so beautiful. It makes my day better. It brings me closer to my self, helps me appreciate my self, warms me. It helps me to appreciate people, and trees, and the sky, and on a more abstract plane, life.
When I leave a yoga class, I usually need a few minutes or maybe even longer to reflect on what I am feeling. Communication can be difficult because I am still in the clouds. But nothing feels wrong about that. It’s beautiful to be taken so high into the heavens that earthbound activities feel foreign for a little while. … Read More
I am no expert on food, but I am an expert on what makes me feel good. I have perfected the art of a great lunch, and I want to share with you how simple it can be. First of all, you won’t need an oven, microwave or stove. Just a knife. You will have variety, and you can mix and match depending on your mood. At the core of this lunch is color. In fact, if you think about eating and diet as a whole, having a colorful, varied diet is extremely important. The more richly colored the vegetable, … Read More
“When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others.”
– Peace Pilgrim
Really think about this quote, and how it rings true in so many situations. It is tempting to immediately think about this quote in terms of our own lives and our own relationships, understanding it from a personal perspective. But what if you apply this quote to others, strangers, the world?
I think about the figures in history who have caused so much pain, suffering and harm. The disrupters, the war-mongers. I can’t imagine how much inner turmoil and disruption they … Read More
“Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.”
– B.K.S. Iyengar
This quote is so simple and so beautiful. And so true. Yoga has the power to heal physical injury. CAN YOU INSERT YOUR STORY OF YOUR BACK INJURY HERE???
To complete the healing power of yoga, there is the spiritual aspect, the part that teaches us to “endure what cannot be cured.” If we look at this from an emotional, spiritual and intellectual stance, it is clear. One of the fundamentals of yoga is inner peace.
Inner peace is such a foundational part of … Read More
